Local woman to take on 24 hour litter pick for charity

On the 5th August, from 10am, Hannah Beaumont of Brixham will be partaking in a 24 hour litter pick around Torbay to raise money for Sue Ryder.

Hannah began litterpicking after being inspired by her Grandad, and for the last four years has been keeping the bay clean, which she documents on her page, Me and the Plastic Sea. Regularly picking up hundreds of dog poo bags and cigarette butts, and occasionally finding the odd item – a 1950s kellogs toy or vintage crisp packet.

Hannah litterpicks at least three times a week outside her full time job as a support worker at Yes! Brixham. She has received two letters from David Attenborough thanking her for her efforts and is currently awaiting the results of the Eventbrite Hobby Hero competition, in which she is a finalist and in the running for a £2500 cash prize.

Hannah is raising money for Sue Ryder, whom she is also running the London Marathon for later in the year and has a £2000 target to reach. Manorlands hospice, which is located in Yorkshire, has helped many of Hannah’s friends and family, including looking after her Grandma before she passed away in 2019.

She hopes people will come and join her throughout the twenty four hour challenge, and will be posting regular updates as to where she is around the bay. Currently Hannah has listed four locations where you can find her and help!

-10am Meadfoot Beach

-3pm Broadsands Beach

-7pm Breakwater Beach

And just before 10am on the Saturday, there will be celebrations after the final minutes at Fishcombe Cove Cafe.

Hannah is also asking for any local businesses to help support her with snacks and drinks through the day and night and for anyone willing to sponsor her, you can find the justgiving page below.
