Locals weekend at Living Coasts

We all love local. Local is about communities and families and neighbourhoods. Eating local reduces food miles. Shopping local stimulates the economy. Visiting local is great for attractions on your doorstep.

The weekend of 16th and 17th November is Locals’ Weekend at Living Coasts, when local people can visit Torquay’s coastal zoo for half price. On this occasion, local means anyone in the TQ and EX post codes. So you can live in Axminster (EX13), 48 miles from Torquay; Bude (EX23) – 74 miles away; or Lynton (EX35), a whopping 85 miles away, and still be local.

Living Coasts spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “Locals’ Weekend is a great chance for people who live close – or even not so close – but who rarely visit to get a really good discount and pop in for a look around. The place may have changed a lot since they last visited. Using these post codes, we estimate that more than half a million people are local to Living Coasts. Let’s hope they don’t all turn up on one day…!”

You need to prove you have a TQ or EX postcode – a utility bill or photo ID will do – to qualify for the half price discount. If you book online, you get an extra 50p off. For more information go to www.livingcoasts.org.uk or ring 01803 202470.
