Families that have lost little ones are invited to a remembrance service and craft morning taking place in Torquay later this year.
People who have experienced the loss of a baby or young child in pregnancy or the early months of life can remember their little one at the crafting session and remembrance service.
The crafting session will take place on Saturday 30 November, 10am – 12pm in Torbay Hospital’s Bayview restaurant, with the remembrance service held the following day (Sunday 01 December) at 3pm in All Saints Church, Babbacombe.
Crafting provides an opportunity for families to come together with fun activities planned for all ages.
The service sees families remember their little one and reflect on their life. Families can have their little one’s star read out and then hung on the star tree in the church, which is moved to the Torbay Hospital chapel following the service.
The remembrance weekend takes place annually, with staff from Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s maternity unit, chaplaincy services and children’s community nursing team organising the events alongside local parents.
Ceri Morris is a midwife at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and is involved with organising the events. Ceri said: “I’m pleased that we can once again hold our remembrance events for families. These gatherings have become a meaningful tradition for those returning each year, while offering a warm and welcoming space for first-time attendees.
“It’s a supportive environment where families can come together, reflect, and honour the memory of their children. As we approach Christmas, this is an opportunity for families to connect and find comfort during what can be a difficult time.
“We’re grateful to All Saints Church for hosting the service once again and look forward to welcoming everyone for a weekend of reflection and remembrance.”
