M5 remains closed following fatal collision

Update: The M5 is has reopened fully.

The M5 remains closed in both directions following a fatal collision this morning, Thursday 13th September.

Police concerned for welfare of man missing from Torquay

The collision, involving a lorry and several other vehicles happened just after 8.30am on the southbound carriageway near junction 24, Huntworth.

Sadly two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people have been taken to hospital, police say that at least two have serious injuries.

The motorway remains closed in both directions between junction 24 southbound and junction 25 northbound, Taunton.

Work is being carried out to reopen the northbound carriageway but the southbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for the foreseeable future while emergency services complete their work at the scene.
