A man has been arrested following the death of a pedestrian on the A380 yesterday (Sunday 26th July)
Emergency services were called to the scene near the Aller Brake Road junction on Torquay Road at around 1.30am.
Prior to the collision, police had received reports of a man walking in the road, from the direction of Penn Inn roundabout.
The pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries had been involved in a collision with a vehicle, which failed to stop.
Police have stated that a 51-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and was interviewed at Torquay. He has been bailed pending further enquiries until the 2nd November.
Formal identification of the pedestrian has yet to take place but his next of kin have been informed.
