Man arrested following serious assault in Paignton

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Paignton at the weekend.

The incident on Gerston Road in Paignton in the early hours of Sunday, 8th July.

Police are appealing for witnesses, the assault happened around 2.30am following the England vs Sweden match, police believe there were many people on the area at the time.

The victim a 24-year-old local man remains in Derriford Hospital with a serious head injury.

A 26-year-old man from Paignton has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and is currently in police custody.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting CR/060871/18.
