Man detained following incident in Torquay

A man has been detained following a police incident in Torquay.

Emergency services were first alerted at around 8pm last night, Friday 20 January to reports of concerns for the welfare of an individual at a property on Castle Road.

Armed police, specialist negotiators and ambulance crews also attended the incident.

A cordon was set up and local road closures put in place.

Police entered and safely detained a man at around 3.30pm. Police say the man has received treatment for low-level injuries at the scene and has since been transported to police custody.

Other residents of the multi-occupancy property are now able to return after being removed last night.

Enquiries continue.

Police have thanked the public for their patience and support shown at the scene whilst this incident took place.
