Man dies after being hit by van whilst changing tyre on A30

A man has died after being struck by a van as he changed a tyre on a vehicle on the A30 at Alphington, Exeter this afternoon, Monday 26th March.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 12.25pm to reports of a man being hit by a grey renault van.

Police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance attended the incident on the eastbound carriageway. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man’s next of kin have not yet been informed.

Police have arrested a 32 year old man from Exeter. He is currently in custody.

One lane of the eastbound carriageway remains closed. Police are asking the public to find an alternative route if possible.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team are investigating the collision and asking for any witnesses to contact them.
