A man who was moved on from Hollicombe beach earlier this afternoon has been fined by police after he went to another beach to sunbathe.

Police were called to reports of groups gathering, people sunbathing and having BBQs on Hollicombe beach today, Thursday 9th April.

People were moved on and police were later called to reports of a gathering at Fairy Cove, where they found a man who had been obstructive to police whilst at Hollicombe beach.

Paignton police said: “Officers attended a report of a gathering on Fairy Cove. On arrival, the same gentleman who was obstructive to Officers on Hollicombe Beach had decided not listen to the stern words of advice and went to sunbathe on Fairy Cove instead.

“His identity was confirmed due to him being captured on the Officer’s body worn video on Hollicombe beach and he was subsequently issued with a fixed penalty notice.

“All other persons on the beach were educated and dispersed.”
