A man’s body was recovered from the River Dart this morning, Saturday 5th January.
The family of missing local man Jason Wickenden have been informed.
Jason Wickenden, 44, from Dartmouth, has been missing since Thursday 20th December. Police, RNLI and coastguard crews have been involved in the search for him.
A police spokesman said: “This morning police received a 999 call to attend the River Dart, Dartmouth, to a report of a person in the water.
“HM Coastguard were alerted and Dartmouth RNLI lifeboat was dispatched to the scene where the body of a man was recovered from the water.
“No formal identification has taken place, but the family of Jason Wickenden who went missing before Christmas have been informed of the incident.”
Dartmouth Coastguard said: “We were tasked by Falmouth Coastguard following a report of a person in the water on the River Dart. Dart RNLI Lifeboat was launched and proceeded to the scene where the body of a man was recovered from the water.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this sad time.”
