Bijou Theatre Productions returns with their annual dedication to the ‘Queen of Crime,’ Agatha Christie. A Murder is Announced runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 4 June to 25 July 2024. With a stalwart cast, meticulously directed by Richard Bearne and Sarah Caplan, this is sure to be a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seats until the final curtain. Wendy Caplan, Co-Director of Bijou Theatre Productions says: “This is Agatha Christie at her best with Miss Marple firmly in control as she and the Inspector unmask the real culprit.”

In the peaceful village of Chipping Cleghorn, where ‘nothing ever happens,’ an advertisement in the local newspaper causes quite a stir. A murder is announced, is due to take place that very same evening. The scene of the crime will be Little Paddocks, home to Letitia Blacklock and her guests. Whether the advertisement is a joke, a game, or a warning, it attracts plenty of interest, including the keen eye of local sleuth, Miss Marple. When the moment arrives, there is another shock for all in attendance, this time worthy of making the headlines! The dramatic events of the night only lead to further questions the following morning, with the arrival of the police. Join Miss Marple, as she delves into an intricate web of secrets, history, and the nosiest of nosy neighbours. Working with Inspector Craddock and his trusted Sergeant, what will the trio uncover?

As blackmail, threats, secret identities, and more shocking revelations come to light, anyone could be a suspect. The stakes only grow higher, will amateur sleuthing be enough to crack the case in this gripping tale?

Bijou is no stranger to a thriller, hot off the success of ‘Gaslight’ in April, and their winter thriller ‘Dangerous Obsession,’ both of which were excellently received. Bijou stages four plays a year at the Palace Theatre, and they have performed an Agatha Christie summer season run almost every year since 1984. To find out more and to book tickets please visit the Palace Theatre website: www.palacetheatrepaignton.co.uk or call the box office on 01803 665800 (normal opening hours, weekdays 11am-3pm). Pre theatre dining is also available.
