Motorcyclist dies following Newton Abbot collision

Appeal for witnesses following serious M5 collision 

A motorcyclist has died following a collision in Newton Abbot yesterday.

The collision between a red Mercedes B180 and a black Yamaha V-Max motorcycle happened around 2.10pm outside Milber Service Station.

The Nao Victoria is set to visit Torquay

The 53 year old motorcycle rider was taken to Torbay Hospital with life threatening injuries, he died in the early hours of this morning. His next of kin have been informed.

The Mercedes driver was uninjured. He was arrested for failing to provide a breath test and on suspicion of driving without due care and attention. He has been bailed until 21 October pending further enquiries.

The road was closed for 6 hours whilst investigations took place.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone who can assist is asked to contact them via email:101@dc.police.uk or phone 101 quoting log 470 of 22/09/16
