A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Plymouth earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to a property in Rendle Street at around 7.30pm on Monday 18 March. A woman in her 50s was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next-of-kin have been informed. Formal identification is yet to take place.
A man in his 60s, from Plymouth, was arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody. A 36-hour extension was granted by Exeter Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Detective Inspector Neil Blanchard said: “We are in the early stages of our enquiries but have made one arrest. At this time we believe this to be an isolated incident and the parties known to each other.
“We would ask anyone who may have information about this incident to please get in touch. The public will see an increased presence in the area while we conduct our enquiries over the next day or so.”
