National Association of Retired Police Officers donate £1k to Rowcroft Hospice

Rowcroft Hospice was delighted to receive a generous donation from the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO). NARPO raised £1000 to donate as a charitable donation and approached the Elected Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver to receive suggestions of charities to donate the funds to. Rowcroft Hospice was selected as the charity of choice.

Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver said, “I would like to thank Brian Burdus, the President of NARPO, and Steve Edwards, the Chief Executive, for their kind donation. NARPO will always be made welcome in Torbay and I hope they will hold their conference here again in the future.’’

Rowcroft Hospice cares for over 2000 people living with life limiting illnesses in South Devon, this donation will help Rowcroft to continue to support and care for people that need support in the most difficult of times.

Mayor Gordon Oliver continues, ‘’ I have seen first-hand the excellent end of life care and work Rowcroft staff have given to my friends and members of my family in their final days. Supporting local charities is something I feel very passionately about. Upon becoming elected Mayor for Torbay I set up the Mayor’s Fund whereby on an annual basis I donate part of my Mayoral salary. Since 2011, 388 charities and good causes have benefitted from a share of £224,788. Rowcroft provide an invaluable service, help and support to the people of South Devon in their hours of need. Their professional care and support is greatly appreciated by myself and the whole community.”

Rowcroft is grateful to all supporters from the community who generously fundraise and dedicate their time, helping the hospice to continue providing end of life care across South Devon.

Mark Hawkins CEO of Rowcroft Hospice said, “At Rowcroft we aim to make every day the best it can be for all our patients and their families living with life limiting illnesses in South Devon. The support from community leaders like Mayor Gordon Oliver and from National bodies like the National Association of Retired Police Officers, helps us to continue to deliver the highest possible standard of care. We are truly grateful to both to enable us to continue our care.”
