Need a small grant for your community project?

More than £55,000 of funding is available for community projects that improve the health and wellbeing of Torbay residents.

Funded by Torbay Council and managed by Torbay Community Development Trust (TCDT), the Community Fund allows local groups to apply for up to £500 to support their project.

Young people’s climate anxiety is soaring due to lack of access to green space, says Woodland Trust

Since the Fund launched in 2013, more than 300 local groups, including carers, women’s groups, garden projects, homeless support, drug and alcohol support, theatre projects, sports clubs, disabled, arts groups and faith-based initiatives have

TCDT is currently welcoming applications between £25 and £500 from individuals or new groups which meet the following priorities:

– Improving health and wellbeing
– Developing arts, culture and experience of Torbay
– Improving the environment where they live
– Support positive ageing and community cohesion
– Improve children and young people’s experiences in Torbay

Tracey Cabache, director of TCDT, said: ”We are delighted that Torbay Council has significantly increased the amount of funding available from the Community Fund this year and that the priorities have been extended so that an even wider range of local voluntary sector activities can be supported. We encourage as many local groups as possible to apply for a grant support, particularly smaller organisations and those that haven’t applied before.”

Cllr Christine Carter, Cabinet Member for Corporate and Community Services at Torbay Council, said; “We want to promote joint working and empower local community organisations. The Fund, managed by the community, for the community ensures that our local groups and organisations can continue to provide a range of life changing and life enhancing experiences for residents of all ages.”

Individuals or groups who have applied before can apply again but not for the same project they applied for before.

Throughout 2022/23 Community Fund awards will be given in May, August, November and February.

The closing date for the first round of applications for the May award is 23 May 2022, and the second round is August 15th, 12 noon.
