Torbay Hospital League of Friends has generously supported Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s Digital Horizons team to purchase a new, dedicated computer which will help them to create the 500+ videos they produce every year.
The computer allows the team’s studio in the Horizon Centre to become a self-sufficient space, where members of the team have access to all the equipment needed to film, edit and produce video content.
The video content is used to support the Education Directorate with training and educational videos for all staff, as well as to support both the organisation’s public and staff communications and recruitment campaigns and initiatives.
There has been a growing demand for video content since the beginning of the pandemic, and new ways of working and continued challenges mean that demand for video at the trust has shown no signs of slowing down.
The successful bid, which totalled £1,329, also included new wireless microphones which allow the team to record with optimal sound quality.
Andy Kerslake, Digital Education Lead at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are really grateful for the kindness and support of Torbay Hospital’s League of Friends for funding the new equipment.
“The donation will allow our team to continue to support teams from across the organisation with creating video content. This content contributes to the training of our staff, improving the experiences of the people we care for and allowing us to effectively communicate with our local communities and the people we work with.”
Roy Tuttle, Chairman of Torbay Hospital League of Friends, said: “Training and education are vital for Torbay Hospital so the League of Friends were delighted to supply additional computer, audio and software capacity to improve the Education Directorate’s already impressive output of live and pre-recorded broadcasts for the benefit of patients and staff.”
