Toilets in on Market Street and the seafront in Torquay should be open soon say Torbay council.
The new toilet block on Market Street should be open within two weeks. The toilet block is now in place but work was delayed becuase of issues with connecting the new building to the water supply. South West Water discovered that the pipes were not in the location identified on plans and other utilities were causing obstructions. This has been resolved and the connection has been achieved.
The block includes a disabled compliant toilet and baby changing unit. All toilets include a sharps collection bin.
The pay on entry doors have a sensor which will register the number of users, dictating how many times the toilets are cleaned.
The toilets will be open all year round, seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm in the summer and 9 am to 6 pm in the winter.
The Torquay Sea Front Complex refurbishment of this unit is also nearing completion. This has included a full decoration and complete new tiling throughout. The ventilation system has been upgraded and new motion sensor touchless flush systems installed along with new touchless hand wash and dryer systems.
A pay to use shower has been installed and this will be available to use at the start of the summer season.
The facility is currently in the commission and cleaning stages and the council aim to have this operational within the next two to three weeks.
