SWISCo, a Torbay Council company, are excited to announce the arrival of two new John Deere tractors that have recently been added to their fleet through a contract with Mason Kings.

The new tractors will be used for supporting the SWISCo grounds maintenance and parks teams with cutting grass and hedges, as well as supporting the green waste management of Torbay’s beaches throughout the summer.

All these services will be carried out by SWISCo on behalf of Torbay Council.

The new John Deere tractors will be a great asset to the fleet, the front suspension on the vehicles will give more traction on all surfaces as well as increasing driver safety and comfort and reducing impact to loaders mounted with hedge trimmers and mowers.

They are the most economical and environmental tractors on the market, tractors are not yet at the stage of electrical vehicle (EV) due to the requirement of horsepower. SWISCo intend to use the tractors as an alternative to heavy goods vehicles as they are more economical. The tractors meet the operational need of the business as identified by the profession officer employed by SWISCo.

As part of the contract with Mason Kings they will be sponsoring a new crest bed on Torquay seafront and supplying SWISCo with a trailer that will become the community toolkit trailer. This will be used for group litter picks and other community activities involving street cleansing and parks.

Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member of Infrastructure, Environment and Culture for Torbay Council said: “We are pleased to introduce these vehicles to the SWISCo fleet. They will be a great addition to help maintain the Bay and keep it looking lovely for residents and visitors.”
