Newton Abbot Minor Injury Unit extends for weekend

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has extended hours for x-ray services this weekend at Newton Abbot Minor Injury Unit (MIU).

With hundreds of visitors coming to Torbay this weekend for the Airshow ,the unit will be open and on hand to help deal with any minor injuries or aliments people may have.

Event aims to shine a light on ‘lifechanging’ diabetes tech

The unit will have X-ray services available from 8am-8pm on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and is open from 8am-10pm, 7 days a week.

The unit can deal with:

·         cut, graze or wound

·         sprain, strain, muscle or joint injury

·         broken bone (fracture)

·         skin complaint – bite or sting (including human bites), minor burns, including severe sunburn and minor skin infection which needs treating

·         emergency contraception

·         minor head injury

·         eye problem such as a minor eye infection, scratches or something that is stuck in your eye.

With the new highway now in place, Newton Abbot MIU is just a short trip from Torbay in the car. If you have life threatening injuries, you should always attend the Accident and Emergency Department.
