Posting on social media, a spokesperson for Rowcroft Hospice said:
“To all of our Sleep Walkers, due to unforeseen circumstances, there is no longer any parking available for walkers at Torbay Leisure Centre. Please can everyone taking part in the Sleep Walk park in Splashdown Quaywest car park. Parking permits are no longer needed due to this last minute change of plans, so please do not worry if you don’t have one of these.”

So what’s the reason?

Travellers have pitched up at Torbay Leisure Centre car park…

A spokesperson for the council said:
“We can confirm 9 caravans and associated vehicles arrived on Clennon Valley Car Park late last night. This is council-owned land and in line with normal procedures, health and welfare checks are being undertaken.

“We are continually evaluating ways to resolve matters within the confines of the law, as quickly as possible, so as to meet both the needs of the settled community and travellers who encamp on council owned land,”
