The first ever virtual Ageing Well Festival took place on Saturday 24th October – and is now available to rewatch online.

Typically, the Ageing Well Festival would welcome hundreds, if not thousands of visitors through the doors of a large venue, such as the Riviera Centre, site of last year’s festival, and where people were all due to be celebrating last Saturday.

But then a major complication came our way…Covid-19.

So, in order to still be able to celebrate and keep all festival-goers safe, the decision was made by the committee to try our hand at a virtual event – something everyone could watch or listen to from home.

And so, a packed list of content was filmed over the summer, and prepared to be beamed into homes around Torbay, with a number of talks, entertainment acts, exercise pieces and activities all included for good measure.

A spokesperson from the Ageing Well Festival said “On Saturday 24th October, over 400 people joined in to watch our video livestream, with considerably more tuning in to Riviera FM (despite minor complications such as the technical crew being forced to evacuate Riviera FM’s studio mid-broadcast due to a fire alarm)

“In order to ensure everyone can continue to enjoy the content shared on Satuday, as well as anything that was unfortunately cut for time, we’ve uploaded everything into a YouTube playlist, which can now be seen either from the AWF@Home page on our website, or here on YouTube.

“If you’d like to share any feedback from either watching on Saturday, or from rewatching at a later date, or would simply like to get any relevant information, email us at ageingwell@torbaycdt.org.uk

“We’d like to thank everyone you made this festival possible, including those of you who tuned in with us on the day.”
