‘OneFitMama’ comes to South Devon

Mum & Baby fitness classes designed to support mums both psychically and mentally have launched in South Devon!

Suzanne Strickland, Mum of one from South Devon has brought the award winning franchise ‘OneFitMama’ to Kingsbridge, Torbay and Kingsteignton.

She will be joining Jessica Bray who runs OneFitMama Plymouth and Rhiannon Bailey owner of OneFitMama Cornwall in offering these award winning classes to even more mums in the region.

OneFitMama was created by Midlands based mum of 3 Sophia Cooper back in 2010 and now has 32 branches across the country – offering 45 minutes circuit based fitness classes, with dedicated baby friendly areas for little ones to play and explore while mums work out. All circuits are designed by postnatal specialists and are safe for mums to undertake after their post birth GP check, with modifications available meaning classes are suitable for all fitness levels.

OneFitMama is more than just a fitness brand; They also offer a medical professional referral scheme, where GPs, health visitors, midwives or other medical professionals can refer mums struggling with Postnatal Depression to access 6 weeks of classes for free. As many as 1 in 5 mums suffer from post natal depression but Research has shown that exercise and the endorphins it causes the body to release can help lift mood. Helping to reduce the risk of developing PND as well as helping to treat it.

This is a subject close to our hearts of OneFitMama and all the instructors have experience with PND, either first hand or by working closely with mums that are suffering from it.

The Idea of OneFitMama was born after Founder Sophia Cooper herself struggled with PND and found exercise helped her.

Suzanne says:” It can be really hard to find time to exercise with young children, these classes provide that opportunity – without the need for childcare or the anxiety of leaving your child. As a mum you can often feel immense “mum guilt” for taking time to focus on yourself, but self-care both physically and mentally is so important.

As a new mum who suffered with Post Natal depression after the birth of my daughter, I know how difficult it can be and I’m passionate about helping any other new mums in a similar position. I am positive exercise played a huge role in my recovery.

My classes will be a non-judgemental, friendly and supportive atmosphere, and as much about creating a community for new mums as it is about being active and keeping fit.

I’m so excited to be bringing these classes to more mums and I’m looking forward to growing my timetable over the rest of 2019 and into 2020, as well as adding antenatal (OneFitBump), specialist Core & Pelvic Floor restoration session (OneFitCore), and Bootcamps (OneToughMama) in the future. ”
All mums receive a FREE trial session. Classes can be booked directly with Suzanne and more information can be found on Facebook on the OneFitMama Devon page or via email Devon@onefitmama.co.uk
