Pedestrian named after fatal hit and run

The man who died following the hit and run on Torquay Road has been identified by police.

The pedestrian, who was involved in the incident on 26th July has been named as Gareth Robert Toms, a 30 year old man from Paignton, who was also known as Frank Hunter.

Police were called to the incident around 1.30am following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on the A380 Torquay Road near the junction with Aller Brake Road. The vehicles involved had failed to stop.

Two men, aged 51 and 58, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, have been released on bail until November.

Police are appealing for witnesses and urge anyone with information to come forward. 

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk quoting police log 103 for the 26 July.
