“Please bear with us” is the message from Torbay Council in relation to the delays with recycling collections.
In common with the rest of the UK, Torbay is experiencing driver shortages which means some recycling collections are still being delayed.
Torbay Council ask for you to continue to leave your boxes, bins and seagull sacks ready for collection and SWISCo will get to them as soon as possible.
Steve Darling, Leader of Torbay Council, said: “We apologise to our residents for the ongoing delays to recycling collections which are caused by the ongoing shortage of drivers, which is being experienced by councils across the country but also affecting supermarkets, restaurants and a range of other services.
“Currently household waste collections are largely up to date, however in terms of recycling collections, around half are being completed on their scheduled day, with the rest running between half a day, and in a small number of cases, four days behind.”
Darren Cowell, Deputy Leader of Torbay Council said: “Please bear with us, we know this is frustrating and our crews are working hard to catch up. If you are experiencing longer delays than four days please report this via our website.”
