Police appeal for information after power tools stolen from vans in Torquay

Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a series of thefts of power tools from vehicles in the Chelston area of Torquay earlier this week.

Four vans were targeted by thieves, one on Sherwell Hill, one on Hawkins Avenue and two on the Reeves Road.

The incident references are as follows:

  • CR/034810/18: Quantity of tools stolen from van along Sherwell Hill sometime between 12.00pm on Monday 23 and 8.00am on Tuesday 24 April.
  • CR/034717/18: Power tools stolen from van along The Reeves Road sometime between 8.00pm on Monday 23 and 5.30am on Tuesday 24 April.
  • CR/034948/18: Power tools stolen from van along Hawkins Avenue sometime between midnight and 7.00am on Tuesday 24 April.
  • CR/034906/18: Power tools stolen from van along The Reeves Road sometime between 9.00pm on Monday 23 and 10.00am on Tuesday 24 April.

Empty boxes were found discarded in the Shiphay area.

Officers are reminding members of the public not to leave valuables in the vehicles – thieves know all of the hiding places. Police are also advising that car owners to park their vehicles in a garage or on a driveway if possible.

Advice on keeping your tools safe from thieves can be found on the Devon and Cornwall Police website.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting the relevant crime reference number.
