Police have appealed for witnesses after a man approached a young girl near a Plymouth play park on Tuesday evening, 8th May.
The incident happened around 6pm on the field by the play park in Thurlestone Walk, Leighham.
Police say the 8 year old girl was approached from behind by a man who put one hand over her mouth and another around her waist.
The girl managed to remove his arms before kicking him in the knee and screaming for help from her brothers who were nearby. She then ran off and returned home to tell her parents what had happened.
A police spokesman said: “The girl was not injured but was left very upset by what happened. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident and can provide us with information about this man.”
Before the incident the girl believes she saw the same man with a white van in the car park by Leigham Community Hall. The vehicle is described as a large white van with mud around the wheels.
Anyone who saw the man and/or the van or has information to assist police is asked to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/039946/18.
