Police appeal for witnesses after quad bike crash

Police in Plymouth have appealed for witnesses following an accident on the A38 yesterday (17th December)

The single vehicle collision, involving a quad bike happened just before 10pm on the Westbound carriageway on the on-slip from Marsh Mills towards the Parkway.

Police have said that it appears that the rider of a quad bike in lane two lost control, collided with traffic lights on the pedestrian crossing and overturned.

The driver of the quad bike, a 54 year old local man was taken to Derriford Hospital with minor injuries.

The passenger, a 46 year old local woman was thrown from the vehicle and was conveyed to Derriford Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place and the road was closed for 6 hours whilst investigations continued.

Investigating officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to this incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on  101 quoting police incident number 0785 171215.
