Police have warned the public to be vigilant following metal thefts in the Devon and Cornwall area.
One incident involved a man who spoke very poor English who had a young boy with him. They were seen in a white van.
Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood police said on their Facebook page:
“On 2nd December around 2:30pm a male was seen removing scrap mental from the driveway of a property in Longlands in Dawlish. The home owner was unable to stop the male who spoke very poor English and was in company with a young boy. They removed second hand copper/lead and other plumbing bits which were going to be recycled valued at around £100. The male was seen leaving the area in a white transit van. No registration taken.
There has been an increase in metal thefts generally across Devon and Cornwall. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity,”
