Police working to identify person found dead in Paignton park

Police say they are working to ascertain the identity of a person found dead in a Paignton play area this morning, Monday 16th September.

Police have confirmed the person is an adult but no other details at present.

In an online statement, Devon and Cornwall police said: “Police and emergency services are on the scene following reports of the sudden death of a person discovered at around 7.10am this morning in the Esplanade Road area of Paignton.

“A scene guard is in place.

“Officers are working to ascertain the identity of the person found, an adult, and enquiries are continuing.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“The incident is ongoing,”

Tents have been erected on the geo park.

The park and part of the green is cordoned off, as well as Eastern Esplanade to traffic and pedestrians. It is expected to remain closed for sometime.
