The man was treated at the scene by paramedics but he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police found a number of items which require expert analysis from specialist officers and the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Department [EOD].

A number of properties have been evacuated and a 200m cordon is in place. The road has also been closed.

Police say that enquiries are at a very early stage but there is not believed to be any wider public risk at this time.
