Police launch rape investigation following incident in Dawlish

Tools stolen from vans in Torquay and Newton Abbot

Police have launched an investigation following a rape allegation in Dawlish.

The incident happened on Thursday 18th January at around 11am on the beach path close to the Dawlish Warren Bird Nature Reserve.

Police have appealed for witnesses who may have been in the area. It is believed that there were dog walkers in the vicinity who may have seen the victim immediately after the incident. Police are keen to identify and speak to these people as they may hold information vital to the investigation.

The suspect is described as a white man aged between 35-45, 5ft 8ins in height and of stocky build. It is believed that the suspect may have had a tattoo of a bird behind his right ear.

The victim, a 36-year-old local female is currently being supported by specialist officers. This is an isolated incident is being investigated by Detectives in South Devon.
