The new accommodation is made up of one and two bedroom properties and the nine new families and residents were selected from over 100 applications for the properties.

Leader of Torbay Council, Cllr Steve Darling, said: “We are delighted to be able to support residents in Torbay and provide them with high quality, affordable housing. The feedback from the new residents is incredibly positive and they are very happy with the services provided by TorVista Homes. Housing is a key priority for Torbay Council. TorVista Homes share our vision and will assist in the delivery of our Housing Strategy for Torbay.”

TDA’s new housing company aims to deliver a wide range of good quality homes and services and be the landlord of choice for all sectors of the community across the region.

Its priority and focus in the early years is to target new investment in Torbay to support Torbay Council in the delivery of the objectives and outcomes identified within its Housing Strategy.

Rick Williams, Chair of TorVista Homes, said: “It is a pleasure to provide much-needed affordable housing in this area, and we look forward to providing more homes in the coming years. This is the start of our journey to provide affordable homes to those in need. We have ambitious targets to deliver a wide variety of homes to an excellent standard that will positively impact on the lives of many families.”

TorVista Homes plans to deliver around 350 new homes within Torbay over the next four to five years. These include a range of different affordable housing products including, temporary accommodation, Extra Care housing, older persons housing and general needs for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.

TorVista Homes has Registered Provider status and Investment Partner status with Homes England. This enables TorVista Homes to bid for and receive the grants required to support the delivery and acquisition of affordable housing, which will help maximise the number of homes delivered in Torbay.

TorVista Homes Limited is part of TDA Group, which is a wholly owned company of Torbay Council.
