Update: Police have confirmed that 3 people have died. The Plymouth bound carriageway is closed and is likely to remain closed for much of the evening.
There has been a serious collision on the A38 near Plymouth this afternoon, Monday 5th June.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.50pm. It is reported that the incident involved one vehicle on the Plymouth-bound carriageway of the A38 around a mile before Marsh Mills roundabout.
Police state that a van has overturned and it is understood there are four seriously injured casualties. This has yet to be fully confirmed.
Emergency services are in attendance and the road has been closed in both directions while the scene is made safe and to allow the air ambulance to land.
A full diversion is in place at the Deep Lane junction (Plympton exit).
Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Follow any police diversions and expect delays.
