Part of Torre in Torquay was closed temporarily this morning due to an incident on Higher Union Street just after 8am.
Police, the fire service and ambulance crews attended the incident, where a man was stood on the ledge of a building.
People at the scene state the man got down safely by a ladder and was taken by ambulance crews.
The road has since reopened.
