Roadworks to start across Torbay next week

Essential highway maintenance to begin in Torbay next week

Highway maintenance work to a number of roads across Torbay will be starting soon.

The roadworks, which starts on Monday 26 June, will begin at Sherwell Lane, Torquay and include replacement of both the footways and the carriageways. This is part of a £1.2m package of works being undertaken around the Bay between now and March 2018.

The maintenance will be taking place on the following streets:

• Sherwell Lane Torquay
• The Reeves Road Torquay
• Leys Road Torquay
• Huxtable Hill Torquay
• Cadewell Lane Torquay
• Grafton Road Torquay
• Thatcher/Whidbourne Avenue Torquay
• Fowey Avenue Torquay
• Hennapyn Road Torquay
• Colley Park Road Paignton
• Preston Down Road Paignton
• Luscombe Road Paignton
• Milton Street Brixham.

Executive Lead for Planning, Transport and Housing, Councillor Mark King, said: “These works which take place annually are important to ensure that our roads and footways stay safe for everyone that uses them. Please allow extra travel time if you are using any of the affected roads as there may be some delays.”

The works will be carried out with either two way traffic lights or road closures. Residents will be informed in advance by signs and letter drops, which will confirm the dates for the work and how traffic will be controlled. Information will be provided by our partner contractor CORMAC Construction Ltd.
