Geoffrey Ward was pictured on the beach earlier today, with a post on Spotted Torquay attracting over 1000 ‘likes’.

Geoffrey is well known in the area and a local celebrity for his sand art. One of his most famous being the tribute to Paris following a terrorist attack.

Only last week, Geoffrey had suffered a stroke. He has recently moved into a new flat having been made homeless earlier in the year.

Local organisation Humanity Torbay have been collecting donations for Geoffrey.

Posting on social media on 17th May:
“It is with great sadness that I have to report that one of the lovely guys that we’ve helped is very poorly in hospital at the moment. I’ve just spoken to one of his closest friends tonight and he’s asked if we could help get our dear friend a television and if somebody can help him with food and if some kind soul can help him with some comfort chocolate cake also if anybody could help him with the radio.

“This gentleman is one of the kindest nicest men I know he has been so thrilled by his flat and he was homeless for some time so any help anybody can give him I would be really grateful for,”

Humanity Torbay’s most recent post about the sand man read “Big thank you to everyone regarding our beloved sandman you are all wonderful,”

You can find humanity Torbay here and offer donations for Geoffrey here: https://www.facebook.com/HumanityTorbay/

Last night, Torquay’s Riviera wheel lit up for Manchester with the message ‘Manchester stay strong:
