Coombeshead Academy have reassured parents that although police have closed Coombehead Road, the school day is continuing as normal and the pupils are in no danger.

“Dear Parent/Guardian,

You may or may not been aware that is currently a police incident taking place on Neville Road. Consequently, police have taken the decision to close Coombeshead Road whilst they deal with the situation.

I would like to reassure you that all pupils are in no danger. The school day is continuing as normal. The incident has no connection to the school.

We will update you at 2.30pm as to whether the school remains closed. School will be finishing at normal time.”

It is understood negotiators are at the scene.

Updates as information becomes available.
