Severely trapped man released from car two hours after hitting tree

Emergency services were called to reports of an accident near Dawlish earlier this evening, 5th January.

The incident involved a vehicle which had left the road and hit a tree in the Mamhead area.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene around 6.30pm, the male driver of the van was severely trapped, with crews taking around 2 hours to release the driver.

Police closed the road both ways.

The driver was taken to hospital. His condition is not currently known.
