Shoppers to be charged for carrier bags from 5th October

From 5th October, shoppers will be faced with a 5p charge for carrier bags.

England will follow the rest of the UK in charging for carrier bags. It is hoped that the introduction of a charge will prevent litter and waste.

Scotland has seen 71% less carrier bags given out after the 5p charge was introduced in April 2013.

“The new 5p plastic bag charge could save up to £60 million in litter clean-up costs in England. Help protect the environment and #reusebags” @DefraGovUK

So, will you be investing in a bag for life/re use your ‘single use’ shopping bags or are you happy to pay for your bags?
