Simpkins Edwards’ staff achieve raft of key accountancy qualifications

South Devon Chartered Accountants Simpkins Edwards is celebrating a flood of key accountancy and taxation qualifications among its staff, who between them have achieved CTA, ACA, ATT and AAT professional qualifications, enhancing their skill, expertise and knowledge, while strengthening the firm’s ability to provide specialist client advice.

James Fisher, Corporate Tax Manager, has joined the firm’s growing number of Chartered Tax Advisers (CTA) having achieved the UK’s premier qualification in tax advice. As a dual qualified professional (James is also a Certified Chartered Accountant) James offers the highest level of technical and practical tax expertise to corporate clients including guidance on tax-efficient profit extraction, company reorganisations, research and development relief claims, and assisting companies with raising equity using tax-favoured EIS and SEIS investments.

Nick Feeney, Corporate Services Manager, has completed one of the most advanced learning and development programmes recognised in the accountancy profession to become an ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant. Having passed his ACA exams, Nick will join the firm’s 19 Chartered Accountants, advising clients on the preparation of accounts, tax planning and the provision of high level business advice.

Jak Griffin, Tax Clerk, has passed the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) exam, giving him the critical ATT qualification, which will enable him to go on to handle higher levels of tax advice. Jak studied personal and business taxation, law, professional responsibilities, the ethics and principles of accounting, and corporate taxation as part of the qualification.

Abbie Lawless, Accounts Clerk and an accountant apprentice at the firm, passed her Level 4 Association of Accounting Technicians’ (AAT) exam in January and is soon to become a full member of the AAT. Abbie chose to become an apprentice at Simpkins Edwards, despite having the grades for University. This has enabled her to fast-track her career whilst earning a wage, gaining invaluable real-world workplace experience and to become one of the county’s youngest trainees to qualify as AAT accredited.

Commenting on the spate of qualifications achieved by Simpkins Edwards’ staff Mary Jane Campbell, Managing Partner, said: “As a firm, we pride ourselves on supporting our staff through their professional qualifications. This helps them advance their careers and enhance their expertise. James, Nick, Jak and Abbie are fine examples of this. For us, investment in their development is an investment in our business, strengthening the range of services that we provide to our clients, while enhancing their personal skills.”

Simpkins Edwards offers a personal and tailored approach to accountancy, tax and business advice from offices in Exeter, Okehampton, Holsworthy, Bovey Tracey, Barnstaple and Honiton. Market offices are available at The Exeter Livestock Centre, Holsworthy Market and The Amory Centre, South Molton on market days.
