Six people in custody following Broadsands incident

Six people are in custody following an incident in Broadsands, Paignton last night, Sunday 17th March.

Four teenagers were arrested on suspicion of burglary following a call to the police from a member of the public to reports that teenagers appeared to be breaking in to beach huts. The boys, one aged 15 and the others 16, were taken to Torquay police station.

Police including a police dog handler and the police helicopter attended the incident, with Police Dog Yogi and his handler locating two of the suspects and the police helicopter locating the other two, who were hiding on rocks.

During police searches, the NPAS helicopter had a laser shined at it from the ground; a 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman have both been arrested under the laser misuse act.

All six people remain in police custody and await questioning.
