Last year Rowcroft’s annual Make a Will Week raised a phenomenal, £41,370, helping patients to receive vital care while enabling those making or updating their Wills to secure their own and their family’s futures.

Linda Pearce, Rowcroft’s Legacies Officer, explained: “75% of Rowcroft’s care is provided thanks to donations and gifts in Wills.

“By taking part in Make a Will Week, you’ll be helping over 2,000 patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon to make the most of every moment they have together.”

Sue Halfyard, Associate and Chartered Legal Executive at Tozers Solicitors, one of the local firms taking part in the week, said: “Tozers is proud to be supporting Make a Will Week 2018. The support that Rowcroft Hospice provides to those in need is invaluable and we hope the total raised this year is the highest yet.”

Those making or updating their Will during Make a Will Week might also want to consider leaving a gift to Rowcroft in their Will.

Linda added: “No matter how big or small, a gift in your Will is a special way to ensure that care and support can be provided to more patients across South Devon now and in the future.”

Josephine chose to leave a gift to Rowcroft in her Will, and explained: “My sister, Verna died on the Inpatient Unit, aged only 61-years-old. I remember it to be a sad time, but the care she received couldn’t have been better. It was wonderful that our family could visit her at any time without feeling the pressures of time.

“To think that so many patients and their families can spend such precious time together in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere looked after by caring, dedicated people with their loved ones close at hand is such a comfort.”

She added: “To show my appreciation for that care, I decided to leave a gift in my Will, because I want to ensure more patients are able to receive the wonderful care that Verna did, at a time when they need it most.”

The suggested donation for making or updating your Will during Make a Will Week is £175 for a single Will and £225 mirror Wills. Every single penny of your fee is donated directly to Rowcroft.

To take part in Make a Will Week you simply need to book an appointment with your local solicitor, mentioning Rowcroft’s Make a Will Week.
