Cockington Court and its staff are gearing up for the biggest day of the year at Cockington with this year’s Apple Day promising to be a show stopper.

On Sunday 18 October between 10am and 4pm, Cockington will be awash with all things apple, and visitors can taste or take home a variety of locally sourced, delicious food and drink. The traditional cider press will be in action as it turns the autumn windfall into juice and the demonstrators will educate the crowds by showing them how to transform apple juice into scrumptious scrumpy.

All the family can take part in a range of activities from creative crafts to apple themed challenges and games, while being wowed by children’s entertainers and cooking demonstrations.

Nicole Amil, Executive Lead for Tourism, Culture and Harbours, said: “I thoroughly look forward to this event every year and I am very pleased it is continuing with the support of the local people and local businesses. This very important day in the Cockington Calendar creates a fantastic atmosphere and brings the local community together.”

Marissa Wakefield, Cockington Court Craft Centre director, said: “This year’s Apple Day is going to be truly spectacular. The team at Cockington Court has worked hard on getting a fantastic range of stall holders featuring high quality, homemade products across food, vintage, retro and crafts. Apple Day is the perfect place to showcase unique products and we still have space for a few more stalls.”

There is plenty of parking available at Cockington but the organisers have made travel to and from the event easy with a free bus service. The service, provided by Torbay Minibuses, will pick up and drop off from Hyde Road in Paignton and The Strand in Torquay every 30 minutes throughout the day making the event accessible to all.

Marissa continued: “It is really important to us that everybody in Torbay has the opportunity to come to Cockington and celebrate everything it has to offer on this fun-filled day. We hope that the bus service will provide a vital link to the village and Cockington Court. With tickets available on the day people can just hop on the bus and join the excitement.”

With an abundance of live music, featuring local bands The Simmertones, The Esplanades and Vinyl Avengers the atmosphere in Cockington will be a worthy celebration.

While all the extra activities are taking place in and around Cockington Court, the resident craft makers in the stable yard, sea change and cob barn craft studios will be showcasing their creative skills with the glassblowers, blacksmith and chocolatiers not to be missed.

For more information on the event or for a Stall Holders Enquiry Form visit the Apple Day page on the Cockington Court website, www.cockingtoncourt.org

Tickets are available on the day at just £3.50 per adult and £1.50 for children.
