Street party planned for Livermead in Torquay

Roundhill Road, Livermead, Torquay, will soon be hosting a Street Party, featuring live music, Livermead’s Got Talent, a dog show, Livermead’s own bake-off, and an array of stalls & games.

On Friday 29th June, 3pm-8pm, local businesses on Roundhill Road, Livermead (Torquay) with support from Ageing Well Torbay & Torbay Community Development Trust will be holding their very own street party. The party will be open to all in search of an intriguing find from one of the stalls, boasting the likes of cream teas, Pimms, and plants for sale, or a fun game to play. Live music will be provided by Pitch Bend, a local four-piece band, covering genres of music ranging from Rock to Blues, R-n-B, Punk and more.

Fun games will be just one of the features to entice anyone to take part in the fun, as there will be several competitions to take part in, including the Livermead Great Bake-off cake competition, a dog show for our furry friends, and a chance to display your dance moves, sing on stage, crack out any instruments or whatever you may consider talent, as the street party will be hosting its own answer to Britain’s Got Talent…Livermead’s Got Talent.

A minibus will be transporting people between The Haywain pub on Sherwell Valley Road and back on the day.

Organisations getting involved include Ageing Well Torbay, Torbay Community Development Trust, Play Torbay, and businesses based on Roundhill Road such as R & V Coffee Shop, the local Post Office and the Livermead branch of the Co-op.

Tara Acton, Community Builder for Livermead, Cockington and Chelston, said: “It’s brilliant to see people from around Livermead coming together to celebrate what’s on offer in the area, share what they have, and most importantly, to have fun”.

The Community Builders from Torbay Community Development Trust, work with grassroots organisations and groups, encouraging growth to help reduce loneliness and isolation in people over the age of 50 in Torbay. There are 18 community builders spread across Torbay per ward, working with the Ageing Well Torbay project to find new ways of getting people involved in the community through Asset-Based Community Development, a means of developing existing skills and assets around Torbay.
