South Devon employers, who are actively recruiting, will be able to exhibit at the South Devon Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 6 October.
Delivered by TDA, Torbay Council and in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, this free event will take place in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms from 9.30am to 1pm.
The event, an initiative led by Torbay’s Mayor as part of Torbay’s Economic Strategy, provides anyone looking for a job the opportunity to meet with over 60 local employers.
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Following the huge success of the previous jobs fairs, I am delighted to announce there will be another free event, where we welcome all people looking for a job and businesses that are searching for candidates. This Jobs Fair can match job vacancies with skills and provide an excellent platform for candidates to find a new role.”
In March, over 650 candidates met with 55 employers from across Torbay and South Devon, who shared seasonal and permanent employment opportunities with their company.
Kelly Widley, General Manager of Pier Point restaurant, said: “The March Jobs Fair was a great event. We were so grateful for getting the opportunity to have a stand there. We also benefitted from raising our profile and business brand so hopefully we’ll attract customers as well as staff from the event.”
Rebecca Davies, Senior Economic Development Officer at TDA, said: “We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the employers and candidates who attended the March South Devon Jobs Fair. With a good mix of candidates, who were suitable to progress to interview, the employers experienced a high level of candidate engagement are looking forward to attending again.”
TDA will also be showcasing the range of business support it provides to local employers to help them develop, grow and take on more employees. Jobcentre Plus Work Coaches will be available throughout the day to support and help people with CV’s. Job applications will be available in Torquay Jobcentre.
