Eloise Johnson, the Plymouth based muralist known as Mrs Murals, has had her work recognised by the prestigious South West Business and Community Awards and collected her trophy at an awards ceremony in Wiltshire. Eloise was shortlisted for both the Female Entrepreneur of the Year and the Solo Entrepreneur of the Year, from over 1200 nominees across the South West. Mrs Murals was thrilled to be awarded the Winner for Solo Entrepreneur of the Year.
Jackie Chappell, The 1st Female CEO of British Rail was part of the judging panel and said “Judging the awards is always tough. Every entry is of a very high standard and each one is unique which makes the decision harder. I’m very proud of the quality of businesses that we have in this region and these awards give them the true recognition that they deserve.”
The judges’ comments to Eloise on her win were “You are passionate about working ethically and with consideration for the environment. Your art has demonstrated that it has the power to change and uplift spirits by transforming dark and gloomy community spaces into bright, positive ones – Well Done!”
Eloise is delighted with the recognition of her work which pays particular attention to brightening the environment and which can be seen most recently in The Barcode, Drake Circus. All winners of the South West Business Awards, including Mrs Murals, will be entered as finalists in the national awards. Mrs Murals said “Thank you to everyone for their support over the years. As a mural artist the best part of my job is bringing a smile to someone’s day, and this has certainly brought a smile to mine!”
