The 25 Boutique B&B triumphs at the European tourism sustainability award «GrINN Awards 2022»

Torquay’s popular B&B The 25 Boutique has been named “The Best Sustainable Accommodation in the UK” at the European tourism sustainability award «GrINN Awards 2022».

Organised by Quartz Inn Hotels, -the first European hotel group made up of independent and sustainable properties- the GrINN Awards 2022 reward excellence in European sustainable tourism, with the main objective of promoting sustainable and responsible practices in the sector. Hundreds of accommodations, companies and tourism leaders from 28 European countries have participated in this edition in its 50 categories.

Alexander Zawadzki, the award’s organiser commented last Wednesday from the World Travel Market in London:

“Our most sincere congratulations to Andy and Julian for all their efforts in terms of sustainability. They are undoubtedly an example to follow and we hope that other accommodations are encouraged and begin to implement these small measures that together make a big difference”.

We invite all Devon accommodation providers and tourism leaders that are making sustainable progress to apply to our next edition and encourage other people to be more environmentally conscious.”

Owners Andy and Julian Banner-Price opened the accommodation in 2015 following a complete refurbishment of the building. Since then, they have implemented a programme of ongoing action to become more ethical, responsible and sustainable, which includes recycling, reusing, reducing waste or sourcing food locally, among many others.

They both commented on their award: “We are thrilled to have won this award and to be recognised for the important smaller things we have achieved which all add up to make a big difference. We are proud to support our local businesses, nature and environment, as well as be able to offer a luxury product alongside doing our best to work in a responsible and sustainable way.”
