Parents and Teachers – Torbay Holiday Helpers has an exciting new event for 2015:
The THHN Half Marathon Schools Challenge at the Torbay Half Marathon, Sunday 28th June.
The Schools’ Challenge is for local primary school children aged 4 – 11 years old. Pupils will take up the challenge to run 13 miles and complete their own Half Marathon.
Pupils will cover a total of 12 miles prior to race day at their school, we suggest they run 1 mile a week at their school, and then they complete the final mile on the morning of the Torbay Half Marathon in front of hundreds of spectators around Paignton Green using the Torbay Half Marathon course.
This is a great way for a child to participate in the Half Marathon and enjoy the atmosphere of the race, and will bring much excitement as they cross the finish line, having completed 13 miles in total.
The school whose children raise the most sponsorship will win £100 of Book Vouchers for the school.
Each participant will receive a race t-shirt and race medal.
Each school will receive a map of the full Half Marathon course so they can mark off the completed miles. They can also have a visit from Team THHN and Memory Maker Man to talk about the charity and run one of the miles at the school, with the children.
