A petrol station in Torquay has been targeted by thieves.
The vacuums and one of the three jet washes were damaged and are now out of action. Hele Cross Service Station Limited have said they will be out of order for the next day or two.
The company have said that the damage comes as a huge financial blow, with the damage estimated to be over £1000.
Hele Cross Service Station Ltd said on their Facebook page: “Unfortunately due to another break in our vacuums and one jet wash will be out of order for the next day or two.
“Sadly this happens at least once a year, people use crowbars or big screw drivers to pull open the doors, only to realise that there’s a locked safe inside the machines, not a loose cash box.
“Even if they had got into the safe we empty them every evening so that they hold no cash overnight. It’s a huge pain, and a really needless cost to any small business. We’re an independently owned store focused on providing for the local community around us in a more friendly, personal way, we don’t have the backing of a larger company so these break ins are a heavy financial blow.
Fortunately this time our CCTV combined with the polices existing knowledge of the suspect has led to an extremely quick ID and with a little luck a swift conviction. Over £1000 worth of damage, to steal AT BEST £10”
