Members of Torbay’s Brass Band were in Torquay Town Centre to promote the Bay’s annual Civic Carol Concert taking place on Tuesday 8 December at the Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC).

Starting at 7.30pm, with tickets costing only £3 including a programme, this extremely well attended event is open to everyone. A regular fixture in the Christmas calendar, the concert is a celebration of traditional and modern Christmas carols and other seasonal songs.

Proceeds will go to the Chairman’s chosen charities which this year is Torbay Hospital League of Friends and The Rotary Club of Torquay.

Chairman of Torbay Council, Cllr Ray Hill, said: “This truly is a magnificent way to kick off your Christmas festivities. This event reflects the spirit of Christmas and I would like to thank Torbay Brass Band, Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir, and all the participating schools and performers for all their hard work to make the concert such a special occasion.

“If you haven’t been to one of these Christmas carol concerts before, I highly recommend that you come along this year – you won’t be disappointed.”

David Wilkinson from Torbay Brass Band said: “This event is special and unique in the Bay’s calendar. It is an event which, for many, is the start of the Christmas festivities and also raises much needed funds for the Chairman’s charity.

“The concert just keeps growing and could arguably be called the largest carol concert in the Bay. This year we have around 100 children and young people taking part, which always adds a special element to the evening.

“As well as a lovely evening it is wonderful to know that a proportion of monies received will benefit two hardworking local charities.”

Leon Winston will be compering to ensure the evening runs smoothly, and a seasonal message will be given by Father Robert Ward. Refreshments will be available to purchase during the interval.

Event tickets will be available on the door but to secure a ticket in advance, please call the RICC Centre Box Office on 01803 299992 or visit www.rivieracentre.co.uk/box-office
